Qatar University (QU) yesterday held a press conference to announce its upcoming “Fourth Volunteering Youth Forum”.
Details of the forum (October 19-21) were outlined by QU Student Services and Activities Director Mr Abdulla Al-Yafei, Qatar Charity Program Management Director Eng Nasser Almogaiseeb, and Nama Center Communication and Media Office Manager Mr Radi Ajlan Al-Anzi. The forum is organized under the patronage of the Minister of Culture and Sports H.E. Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali, in collaboration with Qatar Charity (community partner) and under the sponsorship of Nama Center.
It will bring together participants and volunteers from Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman to exchange their ideas on how to promote volunteerism and community service and to stress the importance of volunteering initiatives in engaging youth and university students in their respective communities. In his remarks, Mr Abdulla Al-Yafei said: “This annual forum is one of the largest QU events that involve active participation of our students. By engaging our students in such volunteering activities, we equip them with leadership, critical thinking and communication skills and prepare them to join their future careers.”
Eng Nasser Almogaiseeb said: “The forum highlights the important role of youth in the community. It is planned and organized by students as part of their social responsibility to give back to Qatar. Qatar Charity is proud of its partnership with QU and of its participation in this annual gathering that helps students to unlock their potential and interact with their peers from different backgrounds.” Mr Radi Ajlan Al-Anzi said: “We are pleased to support QU in the Fourth Volunteering Youth Forum which aims at preparing a new generation of leaders who are equipped with the necessary competencies and skills. Through organizing this forum, we contribute with Qatar University in spreading the culture of volunteerism among youth.”
