Qatar University (QU) TEDxAlDafnaED organizing committee launched the upcoming TEDxAlDafnaED conference at a press conference yesterday held at QU.

Details of the conference (November 11) were outlined by QU Student Services and Activities Director Mr Abdulla Al-Yafei, Qatar Foundation (QF) Head of Press Office Mr Khalifa Al Kubaisi, Ibtkar for Visual Creativity CEO Mr Mohamed Al-Marri, TEDxAlDafnaED Project Manager student Mohammad Khader, TEDxAlDafnaED External Relations Manager student Jaber Abu-Humaid, and TEDxAlDafnaED Operations Manager student Anas Rasras. The conference, which is part of QU’s TEDx series, is the first of its kind in the GCC region. It is organized by QU (organizing partner) in collaboration with QF (educational partner), Ibtkar for Visual Creativity (golden sponsor), Teach for Qatar, Doha Institute for Graduate Studies and World Innovation Summit for Education (knowledge partners), and Ashghal (bronze sponsor).

The conference is designed to provide a platform for university students, educators, and experts to discuss education-related issues, exchange ideas on the future of education, and provide efficient solutions to enhance the education system at the local and regional level. Mr Abdulla Al-Yafei said: “Through hosting the TEDx conferences, Qatar University demonstrates its commitment to providing its students with opportunities that enrich their experience and bring them together with experts from various institutions to exchange their ideas and expertise, which will contribute to advancing the education sector. This event aligns with our commitment to support and encourage students to play an effective role in social development.”

Mr Khalifa Al Kubaisi said: “We, at Qatar Foundation, are proud to collaborate in this event that aims to drive the education sector in Qatar. The provision of quality education for Qatar’s youth has been, and remains, at the core of Qatar Foundation’s mission, as we believe it is the basis of development and the only way to unlock human potential. There is no doubt that the education ecosystem of Qatar Foundation will be a source of inspiration in this event.” Mr Mohamed Al-Marri said: “Ibtkar for Visual Creativity is committed to promoting community engagement. Our institution provides support to innovative and creative projects, and we are proud to be the golden sponsor of TEDxAlDafnaED.”

Mohammad Khader said: “The conference will provide a platform to discuss issues related to the education system, the labor market, and society. Participants will showcase a wide range of topics that will contribute to filling the gap between the education system and the society, and between the education system and the ever-changing needs of the labor market.” Jaber Abu-Humaid said: “Qatar University is committed to providing its students with an inspirational learning environment. This enabled us to build many partnerships in support of this significant event.”

Anas Rasras said: “We would like to thank our partners, especially Qatar National Library for hosting the first-ever TEDxAlDafnaED. This conference will give us the opportunity to shed light on the importance of quality in the educational process.”
