Qatar University (QU) is exerting great efforts in collaboration with related entities, in particular the Ministry of Public Health, to create a research platform to identify the nature of the novel coronavirus disease and determine its genome sequence in addition to finding quick solutions for early detection of the infection.
This was highlighted by Dr Sawsan Zughaier from QU’s College of Medicine while speaking to Qatar Television. “Besides, we are working on creating a vaccine and treatment from the antibodies extracted from the plasma of the recovered persons. Work is also on to be ready and prevent any potential disruption of the supply chain of related medical supplies. Qatar has provided excellent infrastructure for scientific research, and it is our duty to utilise this for the benefit and development of the country,” she stressed.
