QU College of Engineering students to participate in AINnovation Student Competition

Students from Qatar University College of Engineering (QU-CENG) will participate in the upcoming AINnovation Student Competition -- an initiative by the Arab Innovation Network (AIN) -- that will be held in Jordan under the royal patronage of Her Highness Queen Rania of Jordan on December 11-12.

Four teams from CENG were selected among 16 applications submitted by Qatar University. Their projects – Passive House in Hot Climate, Sustainable Greenhouses to Enhance Protected Agriculture Productivity, Flying Aid Drone, and Smiley -- will compete in the finals against 11 teams from universities in Lebanon, Egypt, Palestine, Tunisia, and Jordan. The CENG team will also participate in the two-day AINAC 2015, a conference that brings together students, entrepreneurs, academics and industrialists from the life sciences, health, engineering, and environment sectors. They will have the opportunity of inspirational talks by experts and leaders in the various fields, as well as interaction with students from around the world in debates and workshops.

CENG dean Dr Rashid Al Ammari said: “Our students are up to the challenge after months of preparation and will present their innovative projects that are of international standard. CENG is committed to ensuring its students’ involvement in regional and international events to advance its vision to be recognized for outstanding education, research and community engagement, and for the quality of its socially-responsible graduates who will be the next leaders in the engineering sector in Qatar”.
