The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Qatar University (QU), in collaboration with Engineers Australia, hosted a workshop titled “Pavement Deterioration: A Study in Qatar” at the College of Engineering.
The workshop was conducted by Kanagaraj Muthiah and Simon Wanklyn from BG&E Consulting Engineers. It was a part of a series of industrial workshops organised by the QU department to encourage the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of civil engineering and support the civil engineering practice for both industry and academia at Qatar.
The workshop highlighted aspects majorly governing pavement life such as appropriate pavement design, right selection of materials, good construction practices and suitable operation and maintenance. Moreover, the speakers provided information and guidelines for pavement failure analysis and identification of types and causes of premature failure and presented unique experiences from a recent “pavement distress evaluation” study in Qatar.
