Under the patronage of HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Qatar University (QU) hosts on Wednesday the 7th Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report and 3rd Exhibition under the theme of “Volunteering” in partnership with QatarCSR Network.

The ceremony attended by His Excellency Dr Mohammed Abdul Wahid Al-Hammadi, the Minister of Education and Higher Education honored HE Sheikha Al-Mahmoud, the previous Minister of Education as CSR Person of the Year 2018 in recognition of her inspiring lifetime achievements toward generations of students throughout over 20 years of her educational career. His Excellency Dr Mohammed Abdul Wahid Al-Hammadi delivered a speech on HE Sheikha Al-Mahmoud’s behalf saying, “It is a national pride for all of us at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Qatar University to choose Her Excellency Sheikha Al-Mahmoud to be the Person of the Year in CSR for the year 2018. This is in recognition of her efforts throughout her career in inspiring generations through many achievements and initiatives.”

In his speech, President of Qatar University Dr Hassan Al-Derham praised the CSR report that Qatar University has been issuing annually and said, "Qatar University continues to be prouder year after year in seeing its graduates become leaders of governmental, non-governmental and academic institutions. What is striking is the keen interest of major institutional leaders in corporate social responsibility and their continued presence in the annual report.”

The annual event represents the largest academic/business forum and a leading academic platform showcasing CSR initiatives, in addition to developing the skills and discovering the capabilities of QU students. The CSR report is an academic research book with rich content highlighting major corporations' achievements in the field of CSR and supporting their position locally and abroad through a digital archiving system according to the highest professional standards. Its outputs contribute to the consolidation of social responsibility in the Qatari culture and heritage.

The exhibition is a high-level platform that allows organizations to participate in an academic forum hosted by QU in order to enhance students' awareness of CSR by creating an actual interaction with the public and private sectors and multinational institutions.

QatarCSR Network is an academic platform established in 2007 that works in partnership with QU and adopts the national vision to strengthen Qatar's international standing; a noble mission to provide equitable opportunities for all to participate positively in the society and promote best practices for business. The network also aims to encourage companies to improve the overall quality of their products, thereby providing them a status of good citizenship and bridging the knowledge gap between companies and CSR programs.
