QU and WVU to collaborate in the field of education, research and academic exchange

Qatar University (QU) signed last Sunday a 5-year agreement with West Virginia University (WVU) to establish collaboration in the field of education and research, and the development of visiting programs for qualified students.

The agreement was signed by QU President Dr Hassan Al-Derham and WVU Board of Governors President Mr E. Gordon Gee in the presence of officials from both institutions. The terms of the agreement include faculty exchange and collaboration in the areas of teaching and research. They also include exchange of students and scholarly publications and information in areas of mutual interest to faculty from QU and WVU. Both institutions will also collaborate on the development and implementation of student visiting programs, joint degree programs, as well as teaching forums.

Commenting on the agreement, Dr Al-Derham said: “We are pleased to partner with West Virginia University in the spirit of promoting education and research excellence, and high-quality programs that will benefit students from both institutions. This agreement aligns with QU’s ongoing efforts to offer various development opportunities and services that empower its students with the motivation towards lifelong learning in line with the Human Development pillar of the country’s national vision.”

Mr Gee said: “West Virginia University is proud to be a partner with Qatar University. Through this partnership we will expand our mission of teaching, research, and service to the global sphere and our students and faculty will have unique opportunities to live and study in Qatar and the GCC region.”
