Dulsco, a regional leader in people and environmental solutions, has been recognized for its Turtle conservation campaign by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME).
The campaign saw Dulsco Qatar organise a clean-up in partnership with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment at Fuwairit beach. The aim of the campaign was to raise awareness around sea turtle conservation, and ensure a clean and healthy environment for their nesting. 40 Dulsco employees, along with school students and municipality cleaners engaged in the activity, with 342 kg of general waste and 29 kg of recyclables collected during the drive.
The honorary ceremony saw Dulsco awarded a certificate and shield from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) as a token of Appreciation for their active participation. The ceremony was attended by Mohammed al Marri, Head of Environmental Protection, Reserves and Wildlife Department of the MME, a number of participating bodies in the campaigns, and representatives of Al Shamal Municipality in cooperation with Qatar University (QU), Qatar Petroleum, as well as Dulsco itself.
“Sustainability and social responsibility are at the core of our business, and we believe that operating in a way that is responsible to our communities is essential. We’re proud of both the awareness we have helped to create around sea turtle conservation in Qatar and the wider region, and of the active participation we have helped to nurture as part of the campaign,” said Colin Alfred Gilpin, Chief Operations Officer at Dulsco, speaking after the ceremony. A total of 31 nests, particularly those of the endangered Hawksbill sea turtle, were spotted during the last nesting season in Qatar.
