QU booth attracts a high number of visitors at Qatar Global Education Fair

A large number of students and education professionals visited Qatar University’s (QU) booth at the Qatar Global Education Fair, and were briefed on many services, resources and facilities that the organization offers such as scholarships and academic grants, accreditation, undergraduate and graduate studies, application and visa process, student accommodation, and training and internships, among many others.

Held on October 27-28 at the Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, the event was sponsored by QU and Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), and organized by BMI as part of a series of fairs taking place in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Kuwait. It included over 50 universities, higher education institutions and government organizations and drew over 3000 visitors to the information booths that provided details on study options and study abroad opportunities, academic programs, non-academic services, and more.

Commenting on the event, QU representative and graduate admission specialist at QU Admissions Department Lama Ali said: “Through our participation at this event, we encouraged students to pursue their graduate studies and we gave them an insight on the wide range of graduate programs that we offer at QU. The organization offers 32 programs at graduate level -- 24 Masters, 4 Diplomas, one PharmD and 3 Doctoral programs.”

Also QU representative and professional development specialist at QU Continuing Education Office (CEO) Nidaa Abu Hashem said: “This event was an invaluable opportunity to increase students’ awareness on the various workshops and preparedness programs that CEO offers. It also highlights the Office’s commitment to providing educational and training programs that meet and fulfil the needs of the wider community.”

Students who visited QU’s booth also highlighted the importance of this event: 2nd-year student of Statistics at QU College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Zaher Mohamed Albahnasi said: “At QU’s booth, we had the opportunity to get information on the master’s program in Applicable Statistics that the College offers, and the admission requirements.” 3rd-year student at QU College of Sharia and Islamic Studies (CSIS) Ahmed Khalil said: “We were oriented on the masters’ programs in Quranic Sciences and Exegesis, and in Fiqh and Usul Al-Fiqh that the College offers, as well as the research opportunities, scholarships and curricula.”

The event featured a series of workshops on “Study in the USA”, “Tips for finding your dream job”, “Study in the UK”, “Study in the USA at the University of California”, “Study in Qatar”, “Study in the Canada”, “How to find a job in the digital age”, “Study at Hamad Bin Khalifa University”, “Study English in the UK”, and “Study in France”. Presenters included Dr Abdelmagid Hammuda, QU; Ms Nahid Lawson, Education USA; Mr Ibrahim Badredien, Bayt.com; Mr Zoheb Khawaja, Bristish Council in Qatar; Mr Naser Y.J. Aljuryyed, University of California, Irvine; Mr Houssam El Zein, HBKU; Ms Jodie Gray, English UK; and Ms Gladys Monteiro de Lima, Campus France.
