The Qatar Global Education Fair launched at QU press conference

Qatar University (QU) launched the Qatar Global Education Fair at a press conference held yesterday at the university. The fair is sponsored by QU and Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and organized by BMI, which organizes the leading international education fairs in the world.

QU Vice President and Chief Academic Officer Dr Mazen Hasna, BMI President and CEO Mr Samir Zaveri, and HBKU Provost Dr Khaled Ben Letaief led the press conference that also included several officials from QU, BMI, and HBKU. The Qatar Global Education Fair will be held on October 27-28 at the Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel. It is part of a series of fairs taking place in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Kuwait, and aims to provide high school and university students with an insight on the wide range of study options offered at higher education institutions in Qatar and 15 other countries. 

The fair will bring together over 50 representatives of universities, higher education institutions and government organizations from across the world. It is a great opportunity for high school and university students and their parents, as well as education professionals to become acquainted with almost every type of study options and non-academic services that these institutions offer such as scholarships, recruitment, training and internships, among many others.

The fair agenda will comprise sessions in the form of workshops presented by well-renowned speakers from local and international institutions such as QU, HBKU, Education USA, English UK, University of California, and Campus France. They will address a wide range of topics relating to study abroad opportunities such as choosing the right specialization, application and visa process, student accommodation, the role of an international degree in career progress, and many others.

In his remarks, Dr Mazen Hasna said: “QU is proud to sponsor and participate in this world-class fair that brings together representatives of local and international higher education institutions, and from which will emerge invaluable opportunities for students and education professionals to become acquainted with the study options and the various scholarships offered at QU in particular, and in Qatar and the region in general. This event comes as part of QU’s strategic plan to showcase its myriad of undergraduate and graduate programs and to strengthen its international reputation as a key partner in driving forward Qatar’s stated ambitions to be a leader in quality education in the region.”

Dr Khaled Ben Letaief said: “I am delighted that the Qatar Global Education Fair gives us the opportunity to showcase the significantly expanded range of programs now being offered by Hamad bin Khalifa University. In a short space of time we have added a new dimension to the higher education landscape of Qatar -- providing innovative, interdisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate programs that each serve to identify the important educational needs in Qatar with many of our programs utilizing the expertise to be found within HBKU’s specialized research institutes, as well as benefitting from our unique relationship with the leading international universities that have a campus in Qatar.

Mr Samir Zaveri said: “International education is an important subject for almost every government in the world. This support is essential when organizing a world-class event and therefore the Qatar Global Education Fair will be a great success and an event every student or parent must visit.”
