Qatar University (QU) has been ranked #49 in the QS Top 50 under 50 ranking among the most 50 years established universities worldwide. QU qualified for inclusion as it featured in the latest edition of the QS Top 50 under 50 ranking, and is 43 years old (foundation year 1973). The institution had been also ranked No 393 in the QS World University Rankings.
Commenting on the achievement, QU President Dr Hassan Al Derham said: “This significant success highlights QU ongoing commitment to advance its standing in the international arena among the top universities in the world. QU is one of the two Arab universities which have been named in the QS Top 50 under 50 ranking.” He added: “The university continues to deliver on its mission to promote its academic programs and research in line with the needs and expectations of the Qatari society. It also contributes through its strategic plan to national approaches towards a knowledge-based economy. In addition, the numerous research collaborations that QU has established with higher education institutions and research centers worldwide, served to advance the organization’s international reputation and visibility.”
Since its inception in 1973, QU continues to serve as Qatar’s primary institution of higher education. With over 17000 students in its ranks, it is today a beacon of academic and research excellence in the GCC region. The university is home to nine (9) colleges: Arts and Sciences (CAS); Business and Economics (CBE); Education (CED); Engineering (CENG); Health Sciences (CHS), Law (LAWC); Medicine (CMED); Pharmacy (CPH); and Sharia and Islamic Studies (CSIS). It offers the widest range of academic programs in Qatar -- 31 Bachelors, 26 Masters, 4 Diplomas, and 6 Doctoral programs -- tailoring them to meet the ever-changing needs of the Qatari society.
